Mequinenza

Mequinenza counts with a modern city center since the old zone was flooded by the reservoir of Ribarroja. It has all kinds of services: hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, campsites, cinema  as well as a medical center for primary care 24 hours a day. Mequinenza has sports facilities, such as an important race course, sports pavilion, swimming pools, gym and a rowing school.

Mine Museum

More than 1000 meters of galleries, pits, roof supports, shearers, sappers, trucks, excavators. Experience the access inside the mine. You can feel how the miners worked.

Castle of Mequinenza

Visits: On Tuesdays (reservation in advance of 15 days)

Located at the top of a hill, about 185 metres , it is considered a strategic and unique enclave, offering a spectacular panoramic view of the confluences of the rivers Segre, Cinca and Ebro, better known as "Aiguabarreig".

 

Reservoirs of Mequinenza and Ribarroja. Located on the banks of two rivers, now turned into marshes, water has played an important role in the historical development of the locality and in the conformation of its identity. Nowadays, you can enjoy this inland sea with activities of all kinds, such as fishing, wind-surfing, sailing, and different types of water sports.

 

Aiguabarreig Mequinenza offers the visitor multiple possibilities to enjoy nature. It has large natural areas, such as flat expanses that are lost on the horizon and the great mass of water that, on the shores of the town, provokes the beautiful union of the Segre, Cinca and Ebro, known as the "Aiguabarreig". A natural park in which an amazing faunistic richness is given. Riverbank forests, numerous islands and large masses of carrizal next to the steep walls of some mountain ranges, favoring the presence of an extraordinarily diverse fauna.
